Lead Like Mary: Courage, Voice, and the First Messenger of the Resurrection
When we think of Easter, we often focus on the miracle of the resurrection. But tucked inside that story is one of the most powerful leadership moments in Scripture—and it belongs to a woman.
Mary Magdalene was the first to see the risen Christ.
And what did He tell her to do?
“Go and tell the others.”
“Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”
— John 20:17 (NIV)
In that moment, Mary became the first messenger of the resurrection. The first to carry the news that would change everything. She didn't wait for permission. She didn’t question her qualifications. She led with courage, faith, and her voice.
That’s what leadership looks like.
At Grace & Salt, we believe leadership is about showing up boldly, speaking truth with grace, and stepping into the moments that matter most. That’s what we teach in The Esther Project—how to think strategically, use your voice with impact, and lead from a place of authenticity and strength.
So this Easter, ask yourself:
👉 Where is God calling you to speak up?
👉 What message are you being trusted to carry?
👉 And are you willing to lead like Mary—with courage, clarity, and faith?
The May Cohort of The Esther Project launches May 12.
