I don't recommend getting hacked as a networking strategy, but that's exactly what happened. One click on what appeared to be a legitimate party invitation led to a phishing scam, a day of password changes, and reconnecting with friends I hadn't spoken to in years. Sometimes life hands you lemons—and occasionally a reminder to turn on two-factor authentication.

Entering the networking event, I pat my pocket to make sure my business cards are there. Yep, still got them. I know business cards seem old-fashioned in this digital age, but I prefer handing out a physical card rather than awkwardly scanning a QR code. It just feels more professional.
